Human Security

Nepal was ravaged by a pernicious Civil War through the turn of the Twenty-First Century. Political instability was endemic through much of the preceding decade as well. A gruesome murder of the leading members of Nepal’s Royal family, including the King, by a disgruntled prince on June 1, 2001 was one of the lowest points in the Political History of Nepal. This kind of strife boded very ill for the Human Security situation in the country. Children and women suffer disproportionally in the South Asian conflicts. This has been the case in Nepal as well. Similarly, many people have been displaced by the conflict. The Nepalese Civil War has ended. The country is going through a Post-Conflict phase.
